On Feb. 18, 2016, the Federal Communications Commission approved the transfer of 1050 WBNM to Marble City Media LLC, and the call letters changed to WLMA — perfectly re-branded for the Lake Martin, Alabama, area! On March 26, 2016, a new companion FM station launched on 96.3.

Our history dates back to 1947, when the original WLMA-AM began broadcasting as WRFS-AM with a Top 40 format. An FM station — one of the first in Alabama — followed in 1949.

The stations eventually split, and, over almost 70 years, WRFS-AM’s format evolved — from Top 40 to country to nostalgia to country to standards/nostalgia to southern gospel to sports talk to oldies to gospel — and call letters changed — to WSTH-AM in 1986, to WXTH-AM in 1990, to WTLM-AM in 1992, back to WRFS-AM in 1994, to WBNM-AM in 2008, and finally to WLMA-AM in 2016.

Collectively, the new station pair is branded KiX Country – KiX 96.3. Ours are the only commercial radio transmission towers located in Alexander City.

Marble City Media LLC also owns and operates radio stations based in the Sylacauga-Childersburg area (Yea!106.5 [also on 98.3 HD2], 98.3 Fox FM, and KiX 100.3 [also on 1290 AM]) and Alexander City-Dadeville-Lake Martin (The Lake — 105.1 WRFS) and holds a construction permit to build a new station (100.3 WAUA) near Auburn-Opelika.

Our Focus

MARKET: Primarily the greater Lake Martin area, including Alexander City and Dadeville.

COVERAGE: Parts of Tallapoosa, Coosa, Elmore, Talladega, Clay, Lee, Macon, Chilton, and Shelby Counties.
